A little more about me

I was born in NYC to Jewish, immigrant families.  My father is an einikle (direct descendent) of the Ndvorna Rebbe of Premishlan (western Ukraine) from where I learned all my Yiddish, Hebrew & liturgical songs, and my mother, a devoted, doctor of Oncology, is from a secular, political German family, from where my interest in folk songs of love and revolution sparked.

Somewhere along the line I got the strong idea that I want to change the world. I see my music as an opportunity for me to organize community, and to get people singing - both powerful things that I truly believe, change the world. And I have a lot of projects up my sleeve.  The work I do at Nursing Homes, Cultural Centers, in the Jewish Community and in my own living room is the right kind of art for me - art for healing and community building - art which I believe is truly revolutionary.

Prayer is MEANINGLESS unless it is subversive. Unless it seeks to overthrow & ruin the pyramids of callousness, hatred, opportunism, falshoods. The liturgical movement must become a REVOLUTINARY MOVEMENT seeking to overthrow the forces that destroy the promise, the hope, the vision.
